Ergonomic Assessments

What is a Vehicular Ergonomic Assessment?

A Vehicular Ergonomic Assessment is an objective assessment of the ergonomic risk factors associated with driving.

The aim of the Vehicular Ergonomic Assessment is to reduce musculoskeletal discomfort and fatigue by adjusting driving posture and positioning.

Components of the assessment are:

  • Discussion with driver to confirm role, tasks and issues experienced when driving.
  • Observation of the driver in the vehicle while driving.
  • Objective measurement of the postures in the vehicle.
  • Adjustments are made at the time of the assessment, where possible, and practical advice given to the driver to reduce muscular strain and fatigue.

A report is then issued to the relevant parties detailing risk factors identified and recommendations to reduce these risk factors.
